Development Development Intern

Job Summary

The three-month Development Intern program will immerse the Intern in a rigorous curriculum to improve underwriting, market research and presentation skills. Applicants should have a strong interest in Real Estate Development. Interns will have dedicated time with the ELT for performance feedback. The fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment will present many opportunities to test critical thinking and ability to pivot.

Essential Functions

Market Research

  • Improve development team’s current market research process
  • Create a heat map to track active developments and available land
  • Tour cities/sites for real-time market data
  • Perform rental & sales comp studies

Financial Modeling in Excel

  • Produce a Gantt chart with the key tasks of the development process

Final Presentation

  • Present your final market research and feasibility underwritingFinancial Modeling in Excel

Education and Experience

  • Interested in a Real Estate career
  • Rising Junior or higher
  • Concentration in Real Estate preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and reach common goals with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Critical thinking and complex problem solving
  • Self-directed, takes initiative to establish and/or modify processes when needed
  • Computer literate including the use of Outlook 365, the Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, the internet, and other software programs as required
  • 1 year of Excel experience, strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Detail‐oriented with a commitment to a high‐quality work product
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to perform tasks and achieve results independently and as part of a team, consistently meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple assignments effectively in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to think independently and present viewpoints in a thoughtful and professional manner
  • Ability to pivot and work in the unknown
